The Future of Water Resources in the San Juan Islands

By San Juan Conservation District

Do we have enough water? What happens if we have a multi-year drought? Come learn about water resources in the islands. Join us on Monday, November 16 at Brickworks in Friday Harbor from 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM for an information session about water resiliency.

These questions and many more will be answered at an informational gathering of community and water professionals. We will look at our current water availability in the county, water usage, drought forecasts, and conservation measures. Members of San Juan County’s Water Resources Management Committee and other local experts will help us increase our understanding of water resources and needs in the county, including drinking water availability, agricultural usage, and habitat needs.

The panel will also discuss rainwater collection, use of greywater, and desalination systems. Following the presentations there will be opportunity for questions and discussion.

The water forum is organized by Islands Climate Resilience. This event is free, but donations at the door are appreciated.
